AUTUMN DAZE: A loved up day for Andrea and Miguel (and the family!) in New York

Are you ready for the third instalment of the real weddings from @aj.tamari , one of our favourite film wedding photographers, like, in the world, right now!?

This is Miguel and Andrea’s beautiful big day back in 2020, and if you’re looking for colourful wedding dress inspiration look no further!

Like sooo many, if not all, 2020 weddings it wasn’t the day they had planned but they had the most joyous, intimate day all the same at the industrial Round House in Beacon, New York, with beautiful autumnal blooms and foliage by @floragoodtimes and a dreamy pink dress from Azeeza .

A day that was a beacon of light, a chance to be together, in the toughest, darkest of years for us humans and emotions ran high.

And of course, every photo is a work of art, especially the party ones and in the streets outside. Just sublime images to treasure forever and ever. Well done everyone involved!

Who are you both and what you do?

I’m Andrea, i’m a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and my husband, Miguel, is a territory manager for a Pharmaceutical company. Total opposites. Haha.

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends when we both moved to New York. We met several times before actually dating. We saw each other at a friend’s birthday and were inseparable since then.

What’s your fave thing about each other?

Andrea - I love how he’s always so cool and collected. Nothing ever fazes him. He’s the best company because he’s so carefree. His company is an instant stress reliever.

Miguel -  She’s beautiful inside and out. I’ve never met anyone like her. She’s also really weird and goofy. I love that about her.

Supplier list please!

Photography had to be AJ Tamari. They are pure pure magic!!!  We couldn’t be happier with the photos.

For flowers, we chose Flora Good Times. Corinne was so easy to work with and her work is so amazing. She also has the cutest plant shop along Main St in Beacon, NY.

My dress is Azeeza. Initially, I wanted to wear white but because of Covid and having to change our big plans, I decided to switch it up and wear the pinkest dress I could find with the help of my mom and dad which made it even better.

Miguel wore a blue suit from Suit Club. He literally popped in the store and knew what he wanted from the getgo.

Make up was Jules Waldkoetter (The Luminous Bride) and Hair was done by Eileen Shepard who were both a dream to work with!

The venue and food was The Roundhouse. They did such an excellent job. The whole process of booking to the day-of all went so seamlessly.

And all the main/lovely details about the day! Who was there, venue details, what was the running order, any meanings or stories behind the things you chose? Was there a theme/vibe/feeling/aesthetic you were going for?

Honestly, we didn’t really plan for much. The main agenda was to get married, have our parents there and have a good time. This wasn’t our plan A but it sure felt like the best way to get married. Because of Covid, we only had 30 guests. My dad had to get real close and personal with everyone since everyone had to get tested beforehand. We didn’t even think to livestream it to our family and friends who couldn’t make it but that morning, my brother AJ started a livestream group in a span of two hours. Everything came together so organically.  It was so intimate and we got to mingle with every single person that attended so to us, that was more than we could’ve asked for.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Andrea - My favorite part of the day had to be walking down the aisle to Miguel to Mariah Carey. My mom was crying hysterically while my dad and I were giggling the entire time. We also walked a bit too fast cause of excitement.

Miguel - That was my favorite part too! (that’s how you answer when you’re married haha)

What have you learnt about married life so far!

We’ve only been married for 10 months but it feels like a lifetime! People still come up to us and wish us congratulations and we always look so confused. Haha.

There will always be ups and downs in married life but if there’s one thing we’ve learned, its that it doesn’t have to be all that hard. When you constantly choose each other day in and day out, it’s easy and pure. We realized that we need to put in the work every single day. We’ve learned to be kinder, more thoughtful and more compassionate to one another along the way. As much as we’d both like to be right 100% time of the time, that’s just not how it is. We’ve learned to respect each other even on the days when our egos are both out there. And to be quite honest, we’re still learning.

And other advice for couples going through putting their wedding together right now.

Enjoy the process! Don’t overthink it. Think about what makes you happiest and do it! No buts.

What drew you to AJ Tamari :) and also the film photography aspect generally?

We were instantly gravitated to AJ when we saw their work. They and their partner Ronen are crazy talented and so so sweet.  We love the look of film because of it’s timelessness but we also love how raw and real their photos are. We’re not big on posing (we’re quite awkward at it!) so we wanted  someone who could capture us being us. We also love how they captured so many emotions throughout the day and all the little details in between.

Did your wedding take place the day it was originally meant to - What has been the journey involved since March 20!

It actually didn’t. We were originally set to get married in Napa last October which we constantly have had to postpone. But we are so happy we were able to get civilly married despite all the craziness we had in 2020.

What did you find particularly hard emotionally in both the planning and anything on the day?

It was really hard to come to terms with not having all our family and friends present. It was particularly hard not to be able to hug and dance with everyone present as well.

What are/were the parts of the wedding you thought you were going to really miss.. was that how it was when it came to it?

Honestly, everything just came together so organically. We put our full trust in our vendors and they executed everything perfectly.
