FESTIVAL FASHION ROYALTY L•O•M FASHION LAUNCHES A STUNNING WEDDING LINE
We were delighted to be invited down to document the campaign shoot of this whole new direction for L•O•M Fashion who are renowned for creating fiesta fashion for festivals and vibrant playas worldwide and has dressed celebrities like Sophie Ellis Bextor, Joe Lycett, Qveen Herby, and members of renowned bands like The Flaming Lips and Bonobo.
Founder and creative director Louise O’Mahony, asked us to come a long and see how they would turn their flamboyant hand to the world of weddings, so as I (Becky!) sadly personally couldn’t make it couldn’t make it down, we assembled an elite Brighton crew of Photographer Kitty Wheeler Shaw and leading bridal model Chish K [above] to go play dress up and report of their findings!
This new line of exciting wedding and occasion pieces actually marks a return to Louise's roots in costume and bridal fashion. Armed with her expertise in Costume Design and Textiles, which she honed graduating in 2006, and her successful venture founding a bridalwear brand in 2009, Oh Honey! - Louise merges her diverse skills to introduce L•O•M Wedding and L•O•M Gold to the world, offering an exquisite fusion of tradition and alternative flair. There’s also a bespoke and customisation service, collaborating closely with individuals to craft their perfect ensembles for special occasions.
We asked Louise a few questions about this exciting new launch.
What did you want to bring to the to-be-wed world with this collection?
There are more and more couples who want to boldly express their personalities on their wedding day, and I aim to empower them to do that through my designs. I hope to combine my couture skills and experience, with a penchant for vibrant colours and eclectic styles, to create unforgettable pieces that resonate with individuality. I also wanted to offer a different type of service, where clients don’t need to buy a whole dress, they can choose to mix and match two pieces or have various designs combined to create new designs for their styles.
We love the collection and love the pics that came back from this buzzy fun packed shoot day! Read on for Chish’s little report of the experience too:
‘L•O•M’s first bridal collection really feels like one in which you can express your true self! And each outfit is designed to make you feel as confident as you feel comfortable’.
LOOK 1 : Oskara Skirt and Bellatrix Bodice
“Whether you're embracing the gender-neutral chic of the Tabellion suit [LOOK 2 after this one] or embodying the rainbow princess fantasy of the Oskara skirt here,” L.O.M's range is as diverse as it is stunning” Chish describes. “There’s lots great touches to keep you comfortable and in the moment, such as the fact that the Bellatrix bodysuit we paired with the Oskara skirt, is elastic, yet still structured.”
“I loved the Nica wedding veil embellished with giant sequins paired with the crystal Celeste headband continue the vibe of a carefree bride.”
LOOK 2: Tabellion Suit
Machine embroidered patches around the shoulders add a touch of texture and dimension, hand-sewn into place and embellished with scattered beadwork and can be bought as separates too!
Back to a question for Louise!
How would you describe a L.O.M Bride/To-Be-Wed? Who did you have in your mind when you were designing?
“I imagine a lot of my clientele are likely to be drawn from the vibrant festival and party scene, as that is where a lot of my support and followers come from - however, I’m hoping that my designs will appeal to all types of people who love colour and vibrance and dressing up!”
LOOK 3: Nebula Jumpsuit
“I could dance the night away in the comfy Nebula jumpsuit and Tulle Lily overskirt combination!” said Chish.
We must say Kitty Wheeler Shaw’s images of this have blown us away. Wedding Photographer Kitty is a most Curious LookBook member too just sayin’.
LOOK 4: The Alex
“With exquisite floral embroidery and striking silhouettes, even the classic white wedding dresses in L.O.M's lineup receive a playful twist,” Chish said of the final and absolute knock-out look.
L.O.M.’s Louise also picked this one out when we asked which of her creations was her fave!
“This is such a hard decision, because I really loved making so many of these pieces, and also lots of them have a mix and match type vibe too! The Bellatrix glass crystal body is a showstopper, but I think my main favourite piece is the Alex dress. I really loved every part of designing and making this dress, and I really love that a customer can choose to have or not have the beaded details to help it fit within their budget.”
And the final word from Louise on this wonderful new exciting, decorative, expressive and inclusive place for all to-be-weds who love colour, sparkle, stunning silhouettes and bringing the statement to proceedings!
How do you feel about the new collection? How was the process and how does it feel to have this beauty out in the world!
“I feel really really proud and happy with what I have created. Like many other small businesses I have found navigating the current climate very difficult, working so hard to maintain sales when everyone is struggling with finances. I was spending all my time on my laptop focusing on driving sales for my festival brand, that I lost sight of my creativity, and was starting to lose the energy to keep going. Creating and launching this collection has enabled me to reignite my imagination and skills, and whilst it has been an immense amount of work to bring it all together, I feel so happy to get to spend time doing what I love - creating. I just hope that nearly weds and others who love to dress up love my new pieces as much as I do!”
We absolutely know they will Louise!
