The premium exhibitor we have the absolute pleasure of interviewing today is Kent-based alternative bridal boutique Story of My Dress. Cara, the owner of the boutique, has a passion for people, style, fashion from all eras and of course, super beautiful weddings - and we happen to agree with her on all fronts. On top of that, she's an absolute giggle and determined to help you find your perfect dress, and so naturally, we love her very much.

Story Of My Dress specialises in stunning vintage bridal gowns, which can be restored to their former decadence and glory, or reworked into something brand spanking new. Her focus on the story of the dresses is something we adore - they're such an important thread woven into your personal love story - and their breathtaking beauty and romance will sweep you off your feet. The boutique also stocks our 2018 exhibitors Rolling In Roses and previous MC exhibitors Dana Dallal - what an MC Love Fest! We're feeling it, baby!

Why did you decide to set up your own business?

I was with my bestie searching for her dream dress 5 years ago in our local area in Kent. I felt so disappointed by the lack of stylish, cool wedding dresses and also the service that was on offer! I wanted to bring something 'different' to my area for the girls who do not want to compromise on their own individual style without having to traipse the country or break the bank in the process. Also really importantly to create a calm, fun, relaxed environment to find your dress, if you like to really make the story of their dress a wonderful one.

What's been the coolest/best moment of your career so far?

I never take for granted how cool it is that I help dress every single bride that comes through my door! I meet so many awesome ladies and it's such a pleasure to be a part of their story. A major moment for me however....my sister wearing the first ever design from our own collection of bridal separates and dresses. My family's face when they saw her for the first time will never leave me and always chokes me! Our story is so precious.

What do you think the most Curious couples will love about you?

I hope they love my dresses, I hope they love how unique they are and the kind, caring service that comes with them. Lots of our London brides absolutely love the little jaunt down to Kent to our gorgeous shop and busy little village. It's a really nice day out with their bride tribe.

Who or what inspires you?

So much and so many! My family, friends, my brides, the history of fashion, trends! I'm Literally always watching, wondering and imagining!

Who is your fave famous wedding from history and why?

Actually a fairly recent one considering my love for vintage! Kate Moss nailed it for me and actually I think she started a revolution within the wedding dress world! Kate didn't lose her own strong sense of style, her dress was so representative of her cool, effortless way of dressing! The influence of the 30's era in her dress was just so stunning and definitely changed the way brides were thinking. Vintage inspired dresses were a big thing after that wedding and just generally non-traditional wedding dresses were not what a bride HAD to wear anymore.

What do you love most about your job?

Playing with pretty dresses is up there but mainly the people! Being a part of my brides special times and receiving those images after their big day is priceless.
