Tell us about your business – what do you do?
I'm a super chilled and alternative wedding photographer. On the day I’m like your fun best mate, make artist and wedding planner! I go way beyond whats expected of a photographer and yet you'll only see me when i'm needed!
Why & how did you start?
I studied film at college and never did anything with it, I went on to advertising and then started a stationery design businesses which i had for 12 years! I needed a new fresh vibe and so my husband told me to stop taking photos of him and go make some money from it so I did! My first two weddings went straight in to Rock n Roll Bride mag and 4 years later I'm even more in love with this job, I get to party with awesome couples and give them memories at the end of it.
Who or what inspires you?
Music and film but I also vibe off of my couple. I love clean lines and real emotion.
Talk us through a day at the office/studio/wherever you work from.
I'm not a morning person which works great for me as not only do I work from home I don’t have to start weddings until about 10am lol. My daily grind during the busy wedding season is lots of coffee, a dog walk, emails, editing and meetings.
What’s your fave part about what you do?
I love creating and 'narrating' their the story of their day, a photographer can tell the couples wedding day story in hundreds of different ways depending on who they have chosen, I love capturing all the real emotive moments and I totally love the confetti and portrait part of the day, these are the moments that likely to go up on their walls and I want them to be EPIC!
What are you excited about for your business?
I've just had my best year in business so far, my couples and locations have been awesome and I've one of my images was voted the top 50 in the world by Junebug weddings.
Who are your fave 3 wedding suppliers?
I love Wild Renata for her creativity and boldness with flowers; I love Pink Palm Events and Butler White weddings coz they kick ass at styling.
What’s your top advice for couples getting married?
Do you what YOU want! And don’t have a late ceremony, you’ve spent thousands on this day - it goes so fast, so why make it a half day event?! There is sooo much to fit in and the last thing you want is to remember feeling rushed. Sit back and enjoy it! 2pm is the latest I recommend for summer weddings and 1pm for winter.
Make sure you meet Emma at our London fair, 7th-9th Feb 2020, at The Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, Shoreditch.
