Tell us about your business – what do you do?
So I am bridal designer for cool and unconventional brides who wants to be themselves on their wedding day.
Why & how did you start?
I made my first wedding dress for a french blogger on 2010 and after 4 years I decided to launch my brand. I never thought that I will be a bridal designer because as a caribbean woman I sax all my aunties got married in huge dresses and ate those weird cakes that we call "choux au caramel". And i was like "I will never get married in my life". But when I made this dress for this girl, she wanted something very cool, fashionable and easy to wear. It was amazing and I decided that I wanted to do this all day. And I even got married in 2015.
Who or what inspires you?
I love everything vintage first. But also what you wear everyday. I love my dress to be like something you can wear just to go out but in a fancy way. Do you see what I mean? My grand mother , my godmother and my mom are very inspiring too. I have some vintage pictures of them wearing those 70's dress that I would have loved to wear. I also find my inspiration in the 80's and 90's fashion you know, with the big sleeves and large dresses.
Talk us through a day at the office/studio/wherever you work from.
It depends but most of the time I begin the day by checking and answering my mails - checking my agenda too so i know what I have to do - then I work for the brides or for the brand all day until the evening (sometimes I forgot to have lunch!) - then I make some sourcing and get some inspiration on instagram or pinterest .
What’s your fave part about what you do?
My fav part is also the part that I don't like: when you meet the bride for the las time. You see the happiness in her eyes because she feels beautiful and it makes me feel happy too. But it's also the last time with her and it's sad.
What are you excited about for your business?
I can't help myself to think that my job is to make women feel bold, amazing and cool; And it works.
Who are your fave 3 wedding suppliers?
I love Mignonne Handmade - it's an accessories brand based in southern France and it's so beautiful. My friends Le Colonel Moutarde - they are cool as hell and they are based in London too. Chloé Lapeyssonie a french photographer - she rocks
What’s your top advice for couples getting married?
Just be yourself and Enjoy the day
