Petal & Feast: The Wedding Venue of Earthly Delights (and 10% off your wedding flowers!)
Hidden down a country lane in Sussex is The Secret Barn, a proper original barn on a proper working farm, that has become the place of rustic wedding dreams. Run by a team of stylists and wedding sorceresses called Petal & Feast, there is space for a party of 110 for dinner and dancing. This team of artisans are ready to create all your wedding florals and tend to all your hearty, heartfelt catering needs. Both food and flora are grown on the farm in bountiful measure or sourced locally and the team of bohemian, artistic and experienced events crew are on hand to both manage and magic it all up for you on the day.
The barn has all the original beams and flooring and is so dreamy for a country side, relaxed, warm setting and vibe for your celebration, completely connected to the nature of the wild South Downs all around. You can also have an outdoor ceremony in the old walled apple orchard, perfect huh?
The team put priority on all the important things a summery, rustic wedding should hold, comfort, good food and fizz flowing, laid back togetherness, and beautiful, twinkly lights, hay bales, star gazing, and an abundance of beautiful flowers decorating the occasion. Rustic is good but it does of course need coordination when it comes to events the size and importance of a wedding, so it is extra grand that it is all held together by a style-led eye (check the plates) and experienced team of seven strong and creative women.
They all have varying backgrounds, all complementing each other, from menswear designers for Fat Face to illustrators to photographers to midwifes (all bases are covered) and have formed this super team of hilarious and dedicated creatives with a passion for putting together bespoke and seamless events in a relaxed way. Boss Hannah is described as “unflappable” - chilled to the point she’s only just found out who Ed Sheehan is - what? - and has built up the brand from her art college days, through to a vintage crockery hire company, to the successful wedding business it is today.
Their big focus at the moment is developing their own cutting garden, especially during this crazy lock down time, which will enable them to produce the majority of flowers on site for the weddings too! The guys are so very passionate about the flora and have such a wonderful eye and skill for creating knock out, beautiful, natural wedding florals, its a key part of what makes they offering so special. So to grow them all themselves in a self sufficient way completes the circle and gives even more special meaning and good vibes to the flowers at Petal & Feast weddings.
It’s an amazing one-stop shop, which means all your venue, florist, catering and coordination sourcing is ticked in glorious box, yet still remains full of personality, creativity. All taken on by warm, talented babes who want to hear and see your vision and work with you on making your own unique wedding dream come to life.
“From flowers to food, through to an authentic old barn, we have all you need for the perfect “do”,” says Elizabeth on the team. “Our flowers are natural, wild and loosely arranged and where possible, we love to use our own and locally grown blooms, embracing their curvy stems, textures, scent and seasonality. We are passionate about good quality, flavoursome and fuss free food at the plentiful, wholesome end of the spectrum. If you’re looking for relaxed catering, plentiful canapés, followed by the best barbeque and heaps of fresh salads or sharing platters to devour at the table, we’re your gals, nobody will leave hungry. We love working with people who want to work with us and enjoy crafting bespoke events for fun folk."
We asked these guys what the top four coolest things about the brand are and here’s what they said!
1. Authenticity – the barn is a real barn on a working farm. It’s a ‘non – packagey’ ‘undone’ venue and experience.
2. Creativity – our venue attracts relaxed, creative people who want to be involved in the styling and feel of their wedding day. We work alongside them on the floristry side so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming but the barn really is a blank canvas for them to work their magic on.
3. Informality – we are all quite relaxed. You get to set the barn up on the Thursday and clear away by Monday so you have time to do everything and aren’t rushed through your day. We aren’t a wedding factory, we are about people having a genuinely unique wedding day and only do a limited number of weddings a year.
4. Staff - The staff are all friends and regularly work at the barn and they all really capable and lovely. They want you to have a brilliant day and make Petal & Feast what it is.
We love the sound of all of this, it’s a thousand per cent everything I (Becky Most Curious) was looking for when I was getting married and I would have dropped to my knees and wept had I found them. But for me that ship has now sailed my curioes (vow renewal anyone?) so…. I pass the wild, natural, kinda semi agricultural vibes (it’s a thing), Darling Buds of May, Tess of the D’urbevilles, fox glover flower fairy, delicious over flowing amount of Hipster and insta friendly relaxed food vibes wedding knowledge, onto you with my Most Curious blessing! This place has nailed it and the beauty of it is, they kinda don’t even know it, which just adds to the authenticity and charm. It’s the whole package without being anything like package at all!
Most Curious is proud to have teamed up with Petal and Feast to offer 10% off all flowers for the first 10 couples that book through finding them through Most Curious - quote PETAL & CURIOUS!
