Green Eyes: Old Marylebone Town Hall Microwedding with Emerald Dress

Julia&Rob_MajaTsoloPhotography-14.JPG

Something blue is so last year - this year’s all about something green. (Ok, caveat: we don’t live for trends or what’s ‘in’, we just care that you love your wedding because it’s a reflection of YOU. If that’s the case, then our job here is done.) And bringing all the emerald city inspiration today are the wonderful Julia and Robert, who got married pre-Covid (can you remember such a time?!) in an intimate, super special ceremony. Luckily for us, they had the exceptionally talented Maja Tsolo behnd the camera, who’s shared some of her favourite snaps of the day with us.

Over to you, Julia and Robert!

Who are you both and what you do?

Julia works as a product manager at a tech scale-up, and Robert works as a Registrar at an Art gallery. We live in London.

How did you meet?

Robert interviewed me when I went for a job at the British Museum in 2017 when I was finishing my Master's in Museum Studies and had recently moved back to London from a stint living in Germany! I didn't get the job, but we ended up meeting up at a Hokusai exhibition later and things went from there!

What's your fave thing about each other?!

Robert says that his favorite things about me are my patience, passion and sense of humor (but I know I'm not patient!). He probably appreciates my ability to remember things, as his memory is really bad! And I love that I can be myself around Robert because he is understanding, encouraging, supportive and laid-back. We just have lots of fun together and have a super chilled time, which suits our temperament!

And all the main/lovely details about the day! Who was there, venue details, what was the running order, any meanings or stories behind the things you chose? Was there a theme/vibe/feeling/aesthetic you were going for?

We just got married at Old Marylebone Town Hall with two friends as witnesses. We ended up arriving early, so the officiants said we could start early! We went into the lovely Soho room, the officiant read the script we had prepared, and then exchanged rings. We then went outside to take some lovely pictures with Maja. When we left the Town Hall, we were greeted with a beautiful rainbow!

We wanted a no-fuss wedding, and that's what we got! We wanted to keep it simple. As Julia's parents live abroad, we didn't think it was fair to invite anyone else. A couple of weeks later both our families got together for a lovely local meal.

We then went for cocktails and afternoon tea at The Savoy, and a couple of days after, we left for Iceland and saw the northern lights - a dream come true!

What was your favourite part of the day?

The rainbow when we left the Town Hall, and we of course loved the afternoon tea! Great way to end the day :)

What have you learnt about married life so far!

Nothing has changed! We are as happy as before, and continue to enjoy each other's company, especially through lockdown.

Julia wore a green Self Portrait dress and burgundy Aquazzura platform shoes. I did my hair and make-up (which I rushed as we were late to leave the house!). Robert wore an Arket suit.

The flowers are from Rebel Rebel - I got a lovely bouquet I had ordered the previous day.
