Quattro Stagioni: Italian Alpine Winter Wedding Inspiration
I know, I know - it might feel a bit odd to see snowy inspiration in the middle of the British summer (though, then again, it might not - the joy of the British weather means that I have no idea if it’ll be 13 or 30 degrees when this is published!). But with so many wedding plans changing and dates being rescheduled, winter weddings are more popular than ever, so it’s more important than ever to give you some inspiration appropriate for that season too! (This is actually something Liv from Patchwork picked up on in an IG live she did the other day to launch their new weddings instagram account, so it’s clearly on our minds at the moment!)
Today’s inspiration comes courtesy of a brilliant team of Italian wedding suppliers, shot at an alpine club in the Gran Paradiso National Park. (How often do you see sun-soaked villa reception shots from Tuscany or Capri, but don’t ever see snowy ceremony shots - despite the fact that you can ski in the very same country?!) It’s the first in a series called Quattro Stagioni - Four Seasons - a series dreamt up by photographer and floral designer Tiziana and Bianca, who wanted to create wide-ranging portfolios that could ‘help brides make their final decisions about the clothing, the hair and make-up and the flowers.’
Note from Most Curious - We are honoured that Tiziana and her team offered approached us to feature it, we love that it has that signature Italian conceptual, rich, dramatic type of feel, a teeny tiny bit off-beat (a vibe we are so drawn to!) but with the lightest, delicate touch.
The main concept, they continue, ‘is that every season is perfect for a wedding, even the winter. That when you think about your wedding you can go out of the box. Every person getting married should feel free to be themself, and not be convinced to follow a stereotype or a trend. Every color, shape, hair, outfit, location, desire have to mirror their own personality. And nothing is wrong, everything is allowed!’
Martina, their model, wore a long-sleeved, backless lace dress from Elena Pignata, which they accessorised with an oversized jacket and white ankle boots, both stylish and practical. Her hair and makeup were kept simple but impactful, and she wore lots of dainty jewellery pieces.
They chose a tonal colour palette, with the whites and light pinks reminiscent of the shades found directly behind them, and with a pop of colour coming from the pale green. “The flowers are seasonal; a symphony of hellebores, hyacinth, narcissus and Bell of Ireland.” Bianca explains.
We’re not saying we’re wishing the sun away…but this is definitely getting us excited for the winter to roll back around!
