So over the moon to be featuring this incredible wedding from this absolute hero Abimbola Wingate-Saul. Abimbola is a London Criminal Defence Barrister and is top of her game, the brightest of sparks who also dedicates herself to highlighting underrepresentation of Black people in the legal profession, as well as being a force of active anti racism in the courtroom for her clients. She is just all round amazing. And this is her equally amazing wedding to her love Jack. It’s the first of an long term on going series we have coming up on what the traditional fabrics, dress and ceremonies mean to the British West African Brides who find so much joy and love and fun in them! They were selected from more than 31,000 submissions to the Hold Still community photography project, created and submitted during April and May 2020. During seven days the public were asked to submit photographs that they felt best represented their experiences of lockdown in England,. A Spring we will never forget, huh? And this one really caught my eye. It is couple, photographer Donna Duke-Llande and Jesse, who dressed up for the day that would have been their wedding, and celebrated with their two children at their home in Bishop's Stortford. Last Autumn she created this completely beautiful shoot, which also features accessories from our Norwich exhibitor White Reflections - who stock Halo & Co who supplied the Woodlands Tiara and our one and only AM Faulkner, including the unforgettable Margarita Daisy veil, styled so beautifully and inspirationally with Shumidee’s hijab. As well as Norwich exhibitors Buns of Fun cakes (never over that name) and former exhibitor Elegance of Henna - feeling that white Henna SO MUCH. So many reasons this shoot needs attention!

With the love and support of their super talented immediate friends & family along with the help of suppliers, they were able to pull off a humanist wedding in 4 weeks and a reception in 1 week following govt guidelines.
Lakshmi and Jack had an initial small registry wedding with 4 guests and a photographer at Larkbeare House, Exeter, and a 30 person humanist wedding at Little Comfort Farm in North Devon on 21st August 2020. They did some major pivoting and cleverly used some of their friends and family guest to fulfil some of the supplier tasks.
